The revered Vaishno Devi is open for pilgrims throughout the year, but the perfect time to visit Vaishno Devi is between March and October.

3-4 days are enough for your vacation. You can spend a night in Karta and one at the Bhawan as part of your Vaishno devi darshan before returning to Katra.

The helicopter service for Vaishno Devi is available from Katra to Sanjhichatt. The flight takes approx. 8 minutes. The Katra helipad is at Udhampur road, 2kms from bust stand, Katra. From the Sanjhichatt helipad, it takes around a 30-minute hike to reach Vaishno Devi Bhawan. One can reach from here even by ponies, and palkies.

Vaishno Devi Mandir, Ardhkuwari- it is believed that Mata Vaishno Devi meditated in the Ardhkuwari Gufa for 9 months before beheading the demon Bhairavnath. Located halfway to Vaishno devi temple, Ardhkuwari acts as a stopover for the pilgrims on their journey up to the Bhawan, Bhairavnath temple- your yatra is not considered complete without visiting Bhairavnath temple. The cave temple of Bhairavnath is devoted to Kaal Bhairav and is constructed at the site where he is believed to have breathed his last. A steep 3kms journey from the Bhawan leads one to the Bhairavnath temple.

Vaishno devi yatra commences from Katra and is around 13 km from Katra to the temple. It takes approx. 6 hours to reach the temple.
